Legends Match report.
Kicking the dew off the ground for Round 1, the Legends were keen to start the season off with a win and get some rust out of our games. One of those was accomplished with a strong win against Mordialloc but I reckon there might be a little rust still to work off.
The ball was slippery, the win a little tricky and the skills were very rusty. But the endeavour, the attack on the ball and the quarterback were all there and we led all day. The midfield were very strong with Rich getting good tappage down to Lenny, Rossco and Bradders and the forward line looked much better when Smithy and Stalesy got onto the end of some good forward entries.
Smithy’s contested marks were fantastic while Stalesy just knows how to get in the right spots. Special mention to Slugga for his great decoy work. The backline led by Leo & Rugby Ross was strong as usual and it was particularly pleasing to see Live Kev put in a strong game after finally wearing some undergarment beneath his shorts for the first time in 69 games. Unfortunately, this just drew attention to the area as he copped his first ‘testy’ contact that he had successfully avoided for the previous 68 games!!!
Another special mention to Ross Twyford who played his 500th game of senior football today, which includes his massive Raiders tally of 233 games. Super effort Rossco!!
Thanks to Kev Deason, Andy Sumnuts and Capesy for helping us on the sidelines along with Sarah & Jen who kept us in good health!
