Our last game of Legends football for the season saw us celebrate the 150th game of Garry “Wally” Moncrieff. A man who hates the limelight but is the consummate team man, hated having to run through a guard of honour, but he did it with aplomb. We also paid respect with black armbands for Doc’s father, who passed away during the week. Condolences to the Tolliday family.
The game got off to a solid start but as the old bodies got tired, so did the scoreboard. As usual the engine room worked hard with Lenny & Rossco proving that age does not weary them and that they wish the season went for 24 rounds, not ten! The match was closer than the scoreboard would have you believe as no Raider Legend will go down without swinging a few. Figuratively, not literally. Well sometimes literally!!
Well done Legends on a great season. Congratulations to coach Lenny, skipper Ash, Kev Deason on the whiteboard, Gordo as team manager and Candles, who acted as runner after he injured himself, on a great season of legendary footy. Thanks also to Paula & Asha, who make sure the old bodies can keep coming up match after match. Hopefully I didn’t miss anyone.
Cheers,
Slugga
