Raiders V The Other Mornington
The Raiders Cricket team had their final game of the 2009/10 season against the other Mornington side at Alexandra Park. Mornington Red won the toss and batted. Simon and Gabe opened the bowling. They both bowled tightly and kept the scoring low. Dicko came on and took the first wicket in the 10th over when he bowled one of the openers with the score on 1/21.
Damo got to bowl a few overs again and took his first wicket when the batsman played on in the 16th over. Score 2/42. They went to drinks after 20 overs on 2/57. Lenny took another wicket in the first over after drinks with a great catch taken by Gabe at short backward square. 3/57. They then had a good partnership that took the score to 138 before Dish had a batsman caught by Dicko at short cover. 4/138. Dish struck again in the 36th over when he took a catch off his own bowling to have them 5/144. Simon and Gabe came back on to finish the innings. Simon took our 6th wicket in the 39th over with them on 160.
Mornington Red finished their innings on 172 after 40 overs. Our bowling and fielding was pretty good although we dropped a few catches again. Vaughany took 3 catches though. Dish finished with 2/35, Simon 1/11 and Lenny 1/17, Damo 1/20 and Dicko 1/21. Vaughany and Biscuits opened the batting for us. Vaughany was out caught behind for 3 in the 3rd over. Biscuits was run out for 4 in the 5th over. Lenny went caught behind for 4 in the 9th over.
Dish was going ok at this point. Bowy joined him with the score on 3/23. Bowy was bowled for 2 in the 11th over 4/28. Simon and Dish took the score to 50 before being caught behind for 12 in the 15th over. Gabe was out LBW in the 19th over for 6 with the score 6/72. Rossco was run out in the 22nd over for 3, score 7/81. Ash joined Dish and they took the score to 100 when Ash ran himself out for a good 11, 8/100.
Dicko had a short stay and was bowled for 0, 9/100. Damo came in as the last wicket. While all was going on Dish kept getting the runs for us an brought up his 2nd 50 in the 37th over. He was eventually out for 56 in the 38th over leaving Damo 2no. We had a final score of 116 falling short by 66 runs. We ended up with 3 wins, 6 losses and a washout in our first season. |
