Semi Final 1 - Peninsula Raiders vs Darebin Mustangs
Raiders make the Grand Final
Oh yeah.. Big bad scary Darebin Mustangs. Big bad ‘We got the season sown up’ Darebin Mustangs, Big bad ‘You Peninsula boys are softer than ice cream at a Sizzler. Softer than John Holmes putting in a long day..’ Big bad scary Darebin Mustangs who when faced with defeat started to eat their own young. Welcome to Epping, welcome to the business end of the season.
The raiders were coming into the finals with a few losses including a last round loss to the Western Devils. Anticipation was high as the boys had to sit around and wait for an extra time result in the preceeding final, before taking to the field against, yes you guessed it, Big bad Scary Darebin.
Kicking with the gale force conditions in the first quarter, the Red Hot Raider Boys went into the break with a 3 goal lead. Second Quarter and the BBSDM had to be contained to give us every chance in the 3rd, to open up a decent lead. Bowie asked the question and the Raiders answered with determination and heads over the ball that had been missing in recent games. Col (I've got a sore snoz) Fewster totally dominated the ruck with hit outs that went further than most people can kick, Timmy Allen was shutting down their forwards and Biscuits was as excited as a teenager on a bucks night. Third quarter and with a somewhat diminshed breeze, the Raiders dug deep. Big Buzz calmly slotted in a remarkable snap that left the crowd gasping like a goldfish thrown on the lawn in the middle of summer. Great efforts by Wacka and ever reliable Tugboat, combining with some vintage heckling and abuse from Dish on the sidelines, proved to be the tonic to set up a great last quarter.
Buzz continued to provide a great target with T. Allen proving to be very popular with Dish for all his great efforts. Just when you might have thought the raider boys might take the foot off a bit, Lenny showed that his 3rd quarter heroics would continue with a gutsy 4th and a timely reminder that it aint over till its over. Biscuits again proved to be the new Kevin Bartlett of the Raiders by setting sail for the goals, ignoring a few Raiders who were in the square sitting on deckchairs witing for something to happen, and missd the lot.

Round 8 - Peninsula Raiders vs Parkdale, Frankston & Diamond Valley
Two outta three ain't bad. The Supers got back on the board with a win at Parkdale and the Masters continued their awesome season keeping Frankston goalless. Unfortunately the Over 47's couldn't get over the line.
At Parkdale, a blistering 3rd quarter cemented a finals spot for the the Raiders, final score 11-8-74 to 4-10-43. We kicked 6 goals to nothing to build an insurmountable lead coming into the final quarter. Great defence from Richo and Patto as well as the best hit of the year from Dicko sealed Parkdale's fate. Wes, Tim and Browny were also great. Congratulations to Bowy on taking the side one step further this year.
Goals: Simon 2, Tim Allen 2, Wes 2, Browny 1, Dunny 1, Mouse 1, Sully 1, Swivel 1.
Best: Patto, Dicko, Tim, Richo, Wes
In the Masters, they carried on their merry way, winning 15-14-104 to 0-6-6. Don't have best players or match report as yet, hopefully will be updated after training after Ash pulls his finger out..
The Over 47's lost to Diamond Valley. Clarky and Army were solid across half back whilst Wally got heaps of it all around the ground. Ricky and Tomsy were great in and under the packs. Scores and best players to come.
Round 7 - Peninsula Raiders vs Mordialloc, Knox & Footscray
Again, a mixed day for the Raiders with the Supers going down to nemesis Mordialloc, another record breaking win to the Masters and a hard fought loss to the Over 47's
On a soaking wet day, the Supers couldn't match Mordialloc's ball handling as they went down 8-8-56 to 2.5.17. Patto was sensational again across half back, whilst Buscuits was played a typical hard running game.
Goals: Goose 2,
Best: Patto, Biscuits, Gabe, Wes
Luckily, the Masters had the best of the weather and what a day out they had against Knox, breaking all the records they set the fortnight before. Evo racked up a heap of possession, mainly because the Knox backmen kept on kicking it to him. Micky Burgers was on fire in the ruck, Col, Dynsie and Donny were fantastic across half back. The Raiders broke all records again, winning by 133 points kicking 20-23-143 to 1-4-10....Oh, and also, after copping so much crap all week for being unable to kick, the author marked 20 meters out, composed himself and banged it straight through the middle and gave the one finger salute to Ash on the way back to the middle.
Goals: Burra 7, Evo 3, Al 2, Gooch 1, Gezza 1, Pete G 1,
Notty 1, Trev 1, Fluff 1, Rossco 1, Billy 1 supergoal,
Best: Burge, Don, Trev, Col F, Burra
The over 47's lost to Footscray, 2-3-15 to 7-14-56. Clarky celebrated his 50th and Army his 100th game for the club. They capped it off by being the two best on ground. I'm sure Clarky will tell you all about it when he provides his match report. Check the Gallery for photo's of the great men in action.
Goals: Macka 1, Pete E 1,
Best: Army, Clarky, Wally, Tomsy, Gordo
